🐘 The Wild Ride: KMT Conquers Dhimbam, Bandipur, and Kallatti!
The asphalt called, and the Kovai Moto Tribe (KMT) answered! This February, we embarked on one of our most scenic and challenging rides yet: a loop covering the thrilling ascents of Dhimbam, the wildlife corridors of Hasanur and Bandipur, a serene overnight stay in Masinagudi, and the demanding Kallatti hairpins on the return.
This was more than just a ride; it was a sensory feast of stunning views, close encounters with nature, and the kind of deep connection that only an open road can forge.
Day 1: Curves, Corners, and the Wild
Our journey kicked off early, the engines harmonizing as we approached the Dhimbam Ghats. The hairpin bends were the perfect warm-up, testing our cornering skills against a backdrop of breathtaking valley views.
From there, we cruised through the flat lands leading into Hasanur and the famed Bandipur National Park. The true magic began here. Riding responsibly through the protected forest, we were rewarded with incredible sights of wild animals—from majestic deer herds grazing peacefully to the exciting glimpses of elephants in the distance. The jungle’s silence, broken only by the roar of our machines (at a respectable pace, of course!), created a truly unforgettable atmosphere.
We settled down for the night in Masinagudi, exchanging stories, reviewing helmet camera footage, and strengthening the bonds of the Tribe.
Day 2: The Thrill of Kallatti and the Scenic Detour
The return journey presented our biggest challenge and reward: the notorious Kallatti Ghat. Famous for its steep ascent and 36 challenging hairpins, it demanded focus, skill, and precision from every rider. Conquering Kallatti felt like a true achievement, shared instantly with the Tribe members riding alongside us.
From the summit, we coasted through the Queen of Hills, Ooty, soaking in the mountain air and misty views before beginning our final descent back towards Coimbatore.
